Abstract
To evaluate the long-term durability of ceramic siding requires to focus on carbonation which is one of the deterioration factor. Solving the carbonation mechanism also helped my reseach. After conducting accelerated carbonation tests, a quantitative analysis was done. Based on the result, several different tests were examined from various perspectives. As a result, it was difficult to evaluate the carbonation by phenolphthalein in the sample, however, due to the chemical analysis outcome the formation of calcium carbonate. Additionaly, in some types of ceramic siding, carbonation shrinkage and mass increase in propotion to the amount of calcium carbonate occurred.
