A large amount of wallpapers have been produced in Japan, it occupies 1/5 of total amount of production in the world wallpaper markets. Although there are many of kinds of the wallpapers, just only a few kinds of them are mainly used in market. The selection of fabric wallpaper is based on the designer's choice, and the demand and needs for consumers are not enough reflected in building design and construction. Moreover, the ingredient of wallpaper is almost composed by vinyl chloride resin, it is necessary to be considered the treatment in waste disposal and recycling stages. In such conditions, the new wallpaper which was made from Olefine Material was proposed, and it is also necessity to be kept using and preserving in long term. This study is conducted the evaluation of the expression for natural materials on the texture of new fabric wallpapers, and proposed the system for material selection of wallpaper.

In order to evaluate the durability of polyurethane waterproof coating (PUW), the outdoor exposure test was conducted for 10 years from 1982, as a part of the Comprehensive Technological Development Project of Ministry of Construction. The test proved that PUW satisfied the standard value of JIS A 6012 after 10 years service and the major deterioration factor was the chalking of topcoat surface. Hence the highly durable topcoats should contribute further long service life of PUW. Here we report an interim result in terms of gloss retention ratio and lightness/color difference of the surface after 17 months exposure on various topcoats, which were applied on top of polyurethane coating.

Laser drilling for concrete is an attractive method for dismantling nuclear facilities and performing reconstruction generally of public buildings. The reduced amount of secondary waste is ideal for cutting irradiated biological shield walls in nuclear power plants, and the decrease in noise and vibration is advantageous for doing repair work, for example earthquake-proofing hospitals and schools. The design locates the outlet hole of laser beam and drill blades on a common rotational axis. The laser beam weakens the concrete, and the blade breaks the weakened layer. The performance of this drill is a drilling speed of 100 mm/min at 2 kW laser power to produce a f22 mm diameter hole.

As a result of a invetigation into the actual conditions for a housing-building that has been appiled a renewal method for external walls by application of net overlaying and anchoring 20 years ago, it is clear that materials for the method have no deterioration. And then, economical evaluation with two case of life cycle cost estimation has been conducted. One case is repeat of removal of existing overall substrate mortar and surface coating. The other is application of the renewal method with net overlaying and anchoring. In this paper, it is judged that latter is more economical than former after 25 years from renewal construction, because the latter has expensive initial cost, but it is able to reduce running cost. In future, continuous invetigation into the actual conditions for the applied building would be conducted and confidence of delanation effect and LCC estimation would improve.

VOC in the paint is spread and penetrated in surface of painted concrete. So, it is possible to considered that carbonation is inhibited because VOC is intervening around moisture in concrete. Further carbonation is suppressed by effectiveness of bloking transmission of carbon dioxide of coating. There we verified the effectiveness of VOC and the effectiveness carbon dioxide permeability by experiment with each factor. As a result, we show that VOC which is richly water-insoluble compound remain in the surface of painted concrete and VOC has transient carbonation suppressive effects until it is dried and vanished. Therefore we show it is appropriate to evaluate carbonation suppressive with coatings based on method of accelerated carbonation test data for late, that is not affected in VOC and is from that point showed progression of carbonation is faster because VOC is dry and vanished.Further we show that carbon dioxide gas-transmission rate of coatings has a very high correlation with carbonation suppressive of coating materials for textured finishes of buildings and liquid-applied compounds for waterproofing membrane coating of buildings. So it is possible to evaluate carbonation suppressive by measuring of coatings.

In exposure test, it caused micro-crack of some ceramic paint. And the result of the cyclic bending test explained that the paint system did not have micro-crack resistance. It caused blowning of some fluoride resin paint. But this paint system had high water holding capacity and vapor peamiability. So anti-blowning property was not related to vapor permeability and water holding capacity.

So I conducted basic research of water transfer properties of concrete with finishing materials. In this research I coated finishing compound and finishing mortar on each concrete and exposed it to three conditions, in other words drying ,water absorption and re-drying condition. Then I measured moisture content in the concretes by using Electrode Method and studied water transportation in concrete with finishing materials. I also did drying shrinkage test of each concrete and studied the effects of finishing materials on drying shrinkage of concrete.

This study investigated the quantities of carbon dioxide on reinforced concrete buildings in the Tokyo metropolitan area during the manufacturing and transportation of materials to be used. Moreover, those quantities were compared between a basic RC building and a building using scallop shells. Scallop shells can fix carbon. As a result of calculations, scallop shells can contribute to the reduction total carbon dioxide quantities because they can store carbon dioxide on their own, and achieve the carbon-neutral theory, which states that quantities of emission and absorption of carbon dioxide are equal in the life cycle.

Recently, such house with long-term durability has been desired in Japanese housing industry. Narrowing down the target to external wall material, we've focused on ricin finish coating which is cheap and commonly used as a finish coating material for external wall material. Ricin coating is a method to spray coating material mixed with aggregate using a spray gun as a paint finish for external wall material. With such advantages as indistinctive unevenness due to its rough and even finished surface as well as cheap price, it has been widely used. In ordinary ricin coating as it stands now, however, there are drawbacks such as color degradation, cracks on the surface and short expected life in waterproof performance. In order to improve durability of ricin coating, we've examined durability of ricin coated film by further applying a coating agent on it.

Recently, powder coating that reduces environmental pollution because of no volatile organic compounds has been considerably noticed as alternative solvent type coating in Japanese construction industry fields. However, it has been begun to apply to interior finishing and it is rare to apply to exterior in the present Japanese construction. On the other hands, it has been popularized in overseas countries and over 10 years has been already passed from building completion. Durability has to discuss in order to popularize in Japanese construction. Therefore, investigation into the actual condition in overseas buildings has been executed. A main fruit of this research is the following. The powder coated building exterior has not visually remarkable deterioration and also it would be expected enough durability in application to Japanese building exterior.

The multiple regression analysis of investigation data into the actual conditions in overseas buildings with polyester powder coating exterior that is reported in previuos paper are as follows. (1)Chalking is significantly influenced by sunshine and elasped time. That is agreeable to empirical knowledge. (2)Gross change is clearly influenced by sunshine, precipitation and elasped time. That is agreeable to empirical knowledge. (3)Color difference is influenced by sunshine. However, correlation between of calculation with invetigation is not enough. (4)Based on above results, if the polyester powder coating is applied in building exterior in Tokyo, it is estimated that chalikng would be progressed to class1 after 10 years from building completion and class3 after 20 yaers. Gross retention of south face of the building is estimated 65% after 10 years from building completion and 45% after 20 years. (5)It is judged that these deterioration is not behind in baking type solvent coating that has been popularized to building exterior in Tokyo.

As a study about the durability of various coating systems which were surface treatment of aluminum used as sash and curtain wall cladding of the building, outdoors revelation examined nine kinds of 15 total articles of air drying coating systems (four kinds of eight articles) and baking finish coating systems (five kinds of seven articles) for 25 years. During this revelation examination, I measured the appearance change, stain, chalking, adhesion, color difference, gloss degree, film thickness of various coating systems. In addition, I carried out the surface analysis by SEM / EDX / FT-IR of the coating which I gathered from the examination body surface after the outdoor revelation end. Based on these outdoor revelation examinations / measurement results, I evaluated the weatherability various coating system articles of nine kinds of 15 total articles of air drying coating systems and baking finish coating systems which I held as an examination object.

The solvent fluorine resin paintings are widely used for the surface finish of the aluminum alloy building materials for the long-term durability. In Japan, the powder coatings which doesn't contain the solvent are remarkable, because of the VOC exhaust problem. In the last presentation,we gave an account of the evaluated results about the cured powder coating's film on the aluminum alloy. We experimentally made the powder coating by adding oriented thermosetting fluorine resin with high weather resistance to polyester resin. This study is advanced aiming at practical use. In this report we present next three matters,1st:The outdoor weathering test results for three years in Okinawa.2nd:The evaluation for practical use by the large-scale painting material.3rd:The verification of mechanism that fluorine resin make the transition to surface layer.

Recently, The awareness of global environmental preservation and human health and safety has heightened. There are technical challenges for heat curing painting onto aluminum alloy building materials. For example, applying Cr free type conversion coating or powder paint without organic solvent. Japan Society for Finishings Technology set up the paint environmental preservation study committee to establish proper paint specifications, and continues experimental evaluations for Cr free type conversion coating and powder coating. Based on the detailed analysis of the coating film and the result of neutral salt spray test for that, The authors investigated the application of this conversion coating, mainly Cr free type.

Chemical coversion with chromium-free compounds for aluminum alloy surface preparation that is ecologically importannt is different from chomium chmeical conversion because substrate surface has not remarkable color after the treatment. Therefore, simplified daily quality control measure has to be established for practical use. In this paper, a kind of the chromium-free preparation that mainly includes zircon is experimentally discussed. Main results are as follows. (1)60 degrees gross with gross meter is possible to be measured after the treatment. It is clear that surface gross of aluminum substrate declines with the treatment. (2)If color difference is measured with color meter, Δb value is changed to plus side. It is judged that Δb value is possible to be applied to the daily qulity control. (3)Applying portable fluorescence X-ray micro analyzer is possible to detect increaseing of zircon. However, it is necessary to examine still more.

Recently building of exterior wall large tile finishing are increasing from design requirement, safe and secure construction finishing tecnology of large tile is heavier than ordinary tile is recommended. In conventional method, the method that tack steel wire fixed to the back of tile on wall is popular as a preventive measure of spalling tile. But this method is more inefficient than mortar rendering method. Therefore we proposed new methodthat prevent from spalling tile using three-dimensional knitted fabric. And this method is not necesarry to tack steel wire. We verified adhesive durability by accelated weathering and prevention from spailling tile with out-of-plane deformation. In additon, we confirmed that this method is able to prevent from spalling tile during serve earthquakes by seismic test.
