Abstract
The weather-resistant specification of combined coatings of anodic oxide and organic coatings on aluminium and aluminium alloys, Type A1 was newly established when JIS H 8602:2010, the main product standard used in Japan for the surface treatment of aluminium construction materials was having its performance standards revised from defining the specifications by coating thickness to defining the specifications by coating performance. At the meantime, the international standard, ISO 28340:2013 had also been established. On the other hand, powder coatings are being used widely in Europe and Southeast Asia regions. Hence, in order to introduce the combined coating products to the global market, the oversea outdoor-exposure data indicating the durability of the combined coatings would be necessary. This study shows the outline of outdoor-exposure test being implemented in 7 countries across Europe, the United States , Southeast Asia and China since 2012, along with the results of various performance tests carried out using powder coatings and combined coatings of anodic oxide and organic coatings.
