Abstract
In this paper, the application of some kinds of powder coating included aluminum powder pigment for building exterior use is discussed from the design point of view. The weatherability of the powder coating has been estimated by accelerated weathering test that 5000-hour sunshine carbon-arc type weather meter and 2500-hour xenon arc type weather meter and outdoor exposure test for 24 months in Okinawa. The main results are as follows. (1) The hardend film of the composite resin type powder coating that is consisted of thermosetting fluorocarbon and polyester included aluminum powder pigment keeps 90% of gloss retention in the accelerated weathering tests and the outdoor exposure test. And the colour and L value change are slight. (2) The colour and L value chage of the thermosetting fluorocarbon powder coating included aluminum powder pigment is greater than the above composite resin type powder coating. (3) The gloss down, colour and L value chage and chage to black of the isocyanate hardening type polyester powder coating included aluminum powder pigment are remarkable. According to the above results, the composite resin type powder coating included aluminum powder pigment would be expected to use for building exterior materials. The performance evaluation including the weatherability of the composite powder coating would be continued in future.
