Abstract
We want to elucidate the causes of efflorescence phenomenon of fire retardant treated wood. We estimated efflorescence degree of the wood due to moisture in the atmosphere and water inside the wood.Regarding the former, we estimated the absorption and desorption of moisture and the efflorescence occurrence degree after dry-wet-cycle-test for the unpainted wood. For the absorption and desorption of moisture, the result indicated the tendency that fire retardant reagent was educed from cross section more than other section. The amount changes depending on installation condition. As for the latter, we estimated the degree of the efflorescence in the container dried for painted and unpainted of the wood. The result indicated a possibility that water in the wood causes efflorescence. In particular, the painted wood occurred efflorescence. This report conjectured that mechanism.
