We cut trees to build a new building. For the purpose of carbon dioxide fixation and others, we study availability of these trees as building materials. Of these trees, quercus serrata are not generally used as building materials, and there are few data such as physical properties. Therefore, we are conducting experiments to obtain basic data. This paper describes chemical substance emissions and, expansion and shrinkage. Although the emission of formaldehyde and others was observed, the level was low. Variations in expansion and shrinkage of heartwood were larger than sapwood. The ratio of expansion and shrinkage rate was similar to the literature value.
