The Temperature Dependency of Photodegradation Mechanisms and the Study of Morphological Change Accompanying UV Irradiation by Using of the Swelling Ratio Measurement for Urethane Clear Coating

Abstract

Acrylic-Urethane coatings (only containing UVA as additives) for building usage were applied for UV irradiation test at low humidity condition.IR and UV-Vis spectra were measured for after irradiated samples to detect the chemical structure change and to clarify the degradational mechanisms in our experiment’s condition. In addition, We conducted swelling ratio test by toluene, discussed the morphological change accompanying irradiation test. Then, water contact angles were taken as a macro property, the results correlate well with swelling ratio test and it contains extra information for the surface morphorogy. These results and discussions will be presented.
