Abstract

A questionnaire survey was conducted on the interiors and building exteriors of 30 residents of a wood-framed (hybrid structure of wood and concrete) apartment building. The questionnaire survey was conducted to evaluate the impressions of each location in the building using the SD method. In addition, responses were obtained in the form of free descriptions. As a result of the questionnaire survey, the units, the entrance, the telework room, and the exterior of the building were evaluated highly, which is on the positive side of the SD method. The workmanship and design of the building received a high level of satisfaction. In particular, there was a high level of satisfaction with the appearance of the building, which was in line with the opinion expressed in the free description that the contrast between wood and concrete gave a good impression. In the free description, many respondents were satisfied with the wood, and only a few were dissatisfied. As a result of developing an evaluation structure model for satisfaction with wooden architectural spaces, it was found that among the factors of satisfaction, “warmth of wood” had the strongest impact on “relaxation”.
