Part33. Accelerated weathering test for powder coating

Abstract

In recent years, due to the consideration towards better environemnt, solvent-free powder coating has been attracting much attention. By following the trend, the Japan Society for Architectural Finishing has been reporting numerous technical issues on powder coating coated on aluminium substrate at factories, such as 1) and 3). In the previous report No.32, based on the result of accelerated weathering test literature survey 5), 6), it is concluded that ultraviolet radiation in an aqueous solution containing oxidizing agent is effective. By using hydrogen peroxide loaded Xenon Arc Lamp accelerated weathering test, the performance of each powder coating is reported in this report. Furthermore, the deterioration mechanism of the cured coating film is also being studied by using electron microscope and X-ray diffration.
