Application of MPS method to risk estimation of external wall contamination with rainwater

Abstract

In this research, a fluid analysis software, Particleworks, was applied to the rain water simulation with which the extenal wall contamination could be analysed. Contact angle meter and 3D scanner were utilised to measure surface properties of actual walls. Simulation results were compared with water currency measured at top and bottom part of walls. Visual data of wall contamination was used to clarify the relationship between water currency and wall contamination. It consequently revealed that the contamaination of vertical facade was attributed to the pollution amount on the above horizontal facade.
