Performance assessment of roofing materials based on LCA using hybrid inventory data

Abstract

Due to the long life of the building, the maintenance of each part of the building is important and the selection of appropriate materials (material design) is necessary. This study investigated the effects of roofing materials on the environment for the purposes of material design. Specifically, simulations were carried out using an LCA tool that takes the hybrid inventory data (IDEA) and compare the environmental impact of different roofing materials. As a result, we found a relationship between the environmental impact and the life of the building, and that there are differences in the environmental impact associated with different roofing materials.
