Abstract
A fuzzy codebook based image search method for visual localization is proposed in order to support information seeking and use behavior researches in libraries. The codebook, indexing geo-tag images, is generated by fuzzy clustering. The proposed search method is designed on index based image retrieval techniques. It is applied to estimate a position in a library, by using a query image taken by a wearable camera and the indexed geo-tag images. At the Chiba university library, the geo-tag images for localization are collected by using an omnidirectional camera system. The proposal is evaluated in terms of accuracy and computational cost for localization and applicability to information seeking and use behavior researches in libraries.
