Abstract
A method of offset control for traffic signals using phase oscillators have been proposed. We improved this method by making the angular velocities of the oscillators time-variable to optimize the signal cycle in addition to the offset, which method was theoretically and experimentally shown to be effective to smoothing traffic flow in simple road networks. In this presentation, we report some results of computer simulations carried out to show the modified method is effective when applied to more general grid road networks under various conditions.
