A Basic Study on Generating Back-channel Humor for Chat Dialogue Systems

Abstract

In recent years, the research on automatic dialogue systems (Chat dialogue systems) attracts attention. Dialogue systems are classified into task-oriented and non-task-oriented one. In non-task-oriented dialogue systems, it is important that a user want to continue dialogue over a long period of time. In order to improve dialogue continuity, it is reported in conventional researches that utterances including humor and back-channel feedback are effective. In this paper, we investigate a generation of back-channel humor for chat dialogue systems.
