An approach to dialogue response generation considering user’s character

Abstract

We are examining a method of generating a response adapted to a user by estimating the user's character from his/her utterances, and set the system's character to one compatible with that character. We first ask subjects to use six dialogue systems with different characters, and investigate what type of subjects feel easy to what character of the system. The subjects' characters are judged by questionnaire. Next, we analyze the subjects' chat log to extract features of utterances by the subjects of each character. Based on the result, we consider a method for estimating a user's character and a method for giving a specific character to the system response.
