Street-Level Population Synthesis for China Considering Households with Elderly Resident

Abstract

In this study, we propose a population synthesis method for street-level units in the People's Republic of China. Based on statistical data on population and households at the national, provincial, municipal, district, and street levels in China, we calculate the number of elderly individuals and households in each street unit using proportional allocation. Then we employ simulated annealing method to synthesize the population at the street level, ensuring the proportion of elderly households aligns with the demographics of the street. We compare the synthesized households on the number of households, including the elderly, and adjust the excessively synthesized households accordingly.
