Abstract

In university settings, there are many opportunities to experience group work and teamwork through activities such as seminars, clubs, and circles. Through these group work and teamwork experiences, one can encounter groups or teams that proceed smoothly and those that do not. In such cases, the five stages of team building according to Tuckman's model have been used for interpretation. Namely, the idea is that teams that do not progress smoothly are in the second stage of Tuckman's model, the storming phase. However, there are situations that cannot be explained by the Tuckman model alone, such as teams that do not experience the storming phase, or those for which the storming phase is either short or long. While it is believed that individual skills influence these situations, the question has arisen as to whether individual personality traits have an even greater impact. Therefore, this study focuses on the individual personalities in groups or teams that are able to proceed smoothly and those that are not, conducting observational experiments to consider the impact of personality on group and team activities.
