The authors analyzed twenty six major and trace elements of six igneous rock geostandard samples provided by the Korea Institute of Energy and Resources. Wet chemical techniques and X-ray fluorescence spectrometry were used to determine major elements. X-ray fluorescence spectrometry, photon activation, flameless atomic absorption, and ion electrode analysis were applied to measure 16 trace elements: Ba, Ce, Co, Cr, Cs, F, Nb, Ni, Pb, Rb, Sc, Sr, Th, Y, Zn, and Zr. Glass bead specimens with a sample to alkali flux ratio of 1: 2 were used for major and trace element analyses by XRF spectrometry. A significant correlation was found in most of the elements among the analyzed data by different analytical techniques. All the analytical methods used were sufficiently reliable for petrological purposes.
