Abstract
We have attempted examination of the biliary duct after endoscopic papillotomy since 1977. We have recently succeeded in making a new peroral choledochoscope (FGI-X2) by courtesy of Machida Co. Ltd. This fiberscope has an oblique viewing optical system, and its bending angle of the tip are 180° upward, 90° downward and 120° in right and left directions. The working length is 1200 mm with a diameter of 8.5 mm. It is equipped with inflation, water feeding, suction devices and a channel for biopsy. We inserted this fiberscope into the common bile duct through the incised duodenal pappilla by using a reversing method. This procedure has been attempted in eight patients with gallstone, and we succeeded in inserting the scope into the common bileduct three cases. As the result, it was considered that several types of fiberscope should be prepared to use depending on case. This work was supported in part by a Grant-in-Aid for Cancer Reseach (52-24) from the Ministry of Health and Welfare.
