Abstract

Sr isotopic study was performed on eight basaltic eucrites including five desert eucrites for better understanding of their evolution process through the Rb-Sr systematic. However, the Rb-Sr decay system of five desert eucrites has been largely disturbed possibly by terrestrial contamination, while that of three non-dessert eucrites is consistent with 4.39-Ga old isochron obtained from previous study. As a result of mineralogical observation from the thin section of one of the desert eucrites, the deposits of hydrous minerals such as Ca-carbonates and Fe-hydroxides were found in the texture. Subsequently acid-leaching treatment of the individual samples was performed to remove the terrestrial contamination, but it was not enough to construct the Rb-Sr isochron corresponding to the primitive materials in the solar system.
