Abstract

In order to examine the effects of mine waste and dam construction on trace elements distribution in river ecosystems, we measured the concentration of trace elements in Japanese fluvial sculpin (Cottus pollux) tissue at the IWAKI river, Aomori, Japan. We investigate the influences of spoiled chip removement and alteration of drainage point and elevation of water level on trace elements mobility in river ecosystem by comparing before and after the completion of the new dam. We analyzed trace elements in muscle and liver of Japanese fluvial sculpin, which is good index species of river ecosystem with high dietary status and very high sedentary.
