Nitrogen Cycle Driven by Geo-Electricity

Abstract

In living cells, REDOX conversion of nitrogen compounds proceeds via a chain of multiple enzymatic reactions. Then, how did such REDOX conversion of nitrogen proceed before the emergence of life, i.e., on the primitive Earth. In this talk, I will introduce the geo-electricity-driven selective nitrogen conversion. By controlling electron-proton transport processes, just two minerals catalyze seven enzymatic reactions.
