Abstract

Nucleotides are essential substances for life because they are composed of DNA or RNA.Therefore, nucleotide synthesis in the prebiotic condition is an important research topic to clear the origin of life.In the previous study, nucleotides were synthesized by the VUV irradiation to single nucleobase with sugar-phosphate in an aqueous solution. We considered that the selectivity and yield of nucleotide synthesis would be affected by the hydrogen bond between bases. We performed the VUV irradiation to the mixture of several bases or a combination of base and nucleotide. As the result of the analysis, The yields of adenylic acid from the mixture of several nucleobases and uridylic acid were higher than those of a single nucleobase. So, I consider that the amounts of synthesized adenylic acid were increased by composing the hydrogen bond between the bases.
