Raman mass spectrometry for identification ¹⁷O in calcite

Abstract

We measured the Raman spectra of calcite. The Raman spectrum of calcite identified peaks at 1086 cm^-1, 1075 cm^-1 and 1065 cm^-1. The 1075 cm^-1 peak is considered to be ¹²C¹⁶O¹⁶O¹⁷O. In this study, the wavenumber positions of CO₃^2- were calculated using density functional theory and the peak at 1075 cm^-1 was identified from the oxygen isotope ratio value determined from the peak intensity ratio.
