Heavy oil is considered to have a high development value, comparable to the residual recoverable reserves of light crude oil worldwide. Reducing development costs and maximizing heavy oil recovery from underground are common challenges for the oil industry. There are two methods for recovering heavy oil, thermal recovery, and non-thermal recovery. In Resources Data Journal, Liu (DOI: 10.50908/rdj.1.0_17) not only described thermal flooding and non-thermal flooding of heavy oil, but also presented technical points for development. This explanation of heavy oil development technology is considered to be an important material.
