Foreign trade plays an extremely important role in the development of the national economy and is an important symbol of the in-depth development of the national economy. In 2019, China-United States trade disputes resumed, reaching a historic climax in scope and extent, and intensifying. After the calmness of COVID-19, there may be another China-United States trade dispute. How to deal with the frequent trade disputes provoked by the United States will be a common issue for relevant Chinese departments and enterprises in the future. Looking back on history, along with economic development, Japan’s trade surplus with the United States has expanded sharply, and trade disputes between the two countries have been triggered repeatedly for decades. Based on summarizing Japan’s experience in dealing with trade disputes between the Japan-United States and analyzing China’s situation, this paper puts forward some strategic suggestions for China to deal with trade disputes between China and the United States: (1) diversification of export markets, (2) cultivation of high-value-added industries, (3) foreign investment in manufacturing, (4) market for the market, and (5) expansion of domestic demand.
