Suggestions on the design of natural gas pricing mechanism in China

Abstract
As a basic energy and clean fuel, natural gas is an important commodity related to the national economy and people’s livelihood. The historical evolution of China’s natural gas price formation mechanism can be divided into three periods: (1) a highly centralized government pricing period, (2) a price two-track system period, and (3) a government-guided price period. With the overall deepening of China’s resource commodity price reform and the increasing proportion of natural gas in the primary energy consumption structure, the natural gas price management system, pricing mechanism, and the trend of price reform in the future have increasingly attracted close attention from all walks of life. This paper puts forward some suggestions on the scheme design of the natural gas pricing mechanism in China.
