As a vital pillar supporting high-quality regional economic development, regional characteristic industries are facing an increasingly complex external environment and multidimensional transformation pressures. Based on a comprehensive review of relevant research, this paper focuses on four frontier issues in the development of regional characteristic industries: the empowerment of digital technologies and enhancement of industrial resilience, green and low-carbon transformation, along with the restructuring of carbon management mechanisms, activation of cultural genes and brand value creation, and high-level integration into global value chains. By systematically analyzing the internal logic, key challenges, and developmental trends of these issues, this paper aims to construct a theoretical framework and strategic pathways for the sustainable development of regional characteristic industries, thereby enhancing their capacity for innovation, competitive advantage, and risk resilience.
