Understanding and Determining the Color Origin of Green Diamonds

Abstract

Green color in diamonds has a wide range of color, dominant green mixed with yellow, brown, gray and blue; these colors correlate to GR1, H3, hydrogen and nickel defects. This study provides these diamonds' gemological and spectroscopic characteristics and introduces the color origin of both natural and treated green diamonds to understand the mechanism.
