In exploring the feasibility of small-scale tide and ocean current power generation in the Tsugaru Strait, the two-dimensional circulation flow experiments using three types of diffuser models are performed as the initial step of examining the optimum shape of the diffuser suitable. The result of experiments shows that, in case of the gradual extended diffuser with flanges, the acceleration effect of internal passing velocity becomes further intensity due to the formation of vorticity behind flanges.
