Abstract

Neutron diffraction method has great advantages, allowing us to determine the residual stress deep within the bulk materials and components nondestructively. This article reviews the importance of the stress-free lattice spacing to improve the accuracy of the neutron residual stress measurement. And also the recent examples of the application of the neutron residual stress measurement to the mechanical and structural components are introduced.
