I employed hydnocarpus oil or ethyl hydnocarpate mixed with iodide of potash or salicylic acid and examined the absorption of these drugs through the skin by means of the amount of iodide or salicylic acid in urine. Olive oil with mixture of iodide of potash or salicylic acid is used as the contrast. According to the results of the experiments the amount of iodide of potash in urine is greatest in the case of giving ethyl hydnocarpate and least in the case of giving olive oil. In the case of giving hydnocarpic acid and hydnocarpus oil the amount of iodide of potash in urine shows a middle value between them. When salicylic acid for iodide of potash the result with ethyl hydnocarpate above mentioned is also of the same. In the case of giving hydnocarpus oil, hydnocarpic acid and olive oil the amount of salicylic acid in urine is less than that of giving ethyl hydnocarpate.
Further I examined the influence of giving hydnocarpus oil or ethyl hydnocarpate through the skin on the quantity of Ca, N and S in urine. I recognized that the quantity of Ca in urine increased slightly but that of N and S showed no change. And in the case of giving olive oil the amount of these elements showed no change.
