Abstract
It is easily presumable, from the results of our studies on skin functions, that functions of endocrine and autonome nerve system participate in skin functions.
In previous studies, the characteristic skin functions of leprosy patients were attributed to the instability of individuality of patients, and to the functions of endocrine and autonome nerve system. This time, experiments were carried out to investigate the accommodating function of the skin in leprosy patients.
1) The average age of the first menstruation is delayed in leprosy patients by one year, especially in lepromatous patients and before manifestation of the symptoms.
2) The decrease of hypophysis-interbrain functions is remarkable and instability of the autonome nerve system (4/10) is observed. Epinephrin tests was abnormal in 57 of 67.
3) Agitation of neutrophile and eosinophile cells by administration of hormons or autonome toxins is recognized, but change of lymphocytes is slight. In some cases parasympathic toxin provoked urobilinogen in urine.
As the above results, instability of endocrine-autonome nerve system is observed in leprosy patients. Therefore, the accommodating functions are easily broken, prepating for the development of the disease.
