Abstract
Statistical observations of 1, 232 leprosy patients reported from Jan, 1, 1953 to Dec. 31, 1955 present the following facts.
1) The ratio of male to female is 1.7-2.3: 1. In low ages there is no difference.
2) The age of manifestation shifted higher. And the frequency is most remarkable in 30-44 years.
3) Most of the patients belong to maculoneural type.
4) The occurence is more remarkable in the agricultural districts than in the urban districts.
5) The warmer districts, such as the Shikoku, Kyushu, Tokai and Kinki Districts are noticeable.
6) In lower ages of reported patients, 63-91% of them were admitted to the settlements, but in higher ages the percentages decreased.
7) The periods from leprosy diagnosis to admission were very short for most patients.
