Abstract

We investigated the effects of dietary supplementation in high fat diet with different processing kombu on abdominal fat accumulation in diet-induced obese mice (C57BL/6J). Forty C57BL/6J mice were randomly divided into five groups and fed a high-fat diet containing cellulose (CO group), dried kombu (IN group), residual kombu (RE group), tukudani kombu (TU group), dashi (DA group) corresponding to 5% total dietary fiber for 12 weeks. The total abdominal fat mass was lower in the IN group, TU group and DA group than that of the CO group. These results suggested that each processed kombu might have different effects on abdominal fat mass.
