Investigations were conducted as to the causes to determine the selectivity of nesting requirement and rate of use of the sett of Meles meles anakuma at Mt. Nyugasa, Suwa County of Nagano Pref. At the sett, selectivity was traced depending upon the direction of slant, degree of inclination and the plant growth in relation with the sett and dung pit. The types of the sett could be classified to five kinds, i.e., soil sett, tree sett, stone sett, rock and undergrounds sett. It has been observed concerning the sunshining time, type of sett and number of inlets and outlets, that more dungs are found surrounding the sett, and the higher rate of use was noticed at the sett in shorter distance from the dung pit. More dungs seem to be found at a dung pit close to the sett with higher rate of use.
