Abstract
The investigated area ranges from the Fall Hudohnanae-no-taki (Ca. 500m alt.) to Mt. Shakagatake (Ca. 1800m alt.). This area around Zenki, the old village, is situated in the central part of the Ohmine mountain range and lying at about 135°56' E long. and 34°6' N lat., in the Kii Peninsula, Central Honsu, Japan. The higher altitudes of the mountain are mostly covered with the deciduous broad-leaved forests dominated by Fagus crenata, as well as with the coniferous forests dominated by Abies homolepis and Picea jezoensis var. hondoensis. The lower altitudes are with the evergreen broad-leaved forests by Cyclobalanopsis acuta and Quercus phillyraeoides.
The present report deals with the moss flora based on specimens collected by the author in l987 and l988. The collection comprises l40 species belonging to 92 genera and 37 families, Phytogeographically noteworthy mosses were found; Oedipodium griffithianum and Zygodon viridissimus var. rupestris.
