Coppice forest of Japanese evergreen oak (Quercus acuta ) around the headwaters of the Ariya River, Takehara City

Abstract

The natural habitat of the Japanese evergreen oak is a valuable indicator of the naturalness of that area. In Hiroshima Prefecture, it is rare to find Japanese evergreen oak trees growing in the wild. Here we report on a newly found pure coppice forest of Japanese evergreen oak in Takehara City.
