Mercuric Iodide Nuclear Radiation Detectors

Abstract

  The present paper outlines the characteristics and performance of HgI₂ nuclear radiation detectors. Also, the studies on the manufacturing of the crystals and the performance of the detectors for X- and gamma-rays carried out under the joint cooperation of Toyama University and Japan Atomic Energy Research Institute are described. Mention is made on the most recent research on the detectors in other countries.
