In high energy elementary particle physics experiments, an identification of elementary particle species is performed by measuring lifetime and number of vertex positions. The bottom quark and charm quark have relatively short lifetime and the flight length is O (100) μm from production vertex. The vertex positions are determined from the tracks of charged particles decaying from the quarks with semiconductor detectors which provide precise hit position measurements of O (1) μm. In this manuscript, semiconductor pixel vertex detectors proposed for the International Linear Collider experiment will be presented.
