Abstract
LPWA alliances in the IoT business are ecosystems that are consisted of telecommunications companies as keystone companies, and device manufacturers as niche companies, because the networks that can be used are limited by the communication method. In order to create customer value in the IoT business, product capabilities of device manufacturers as niche companies are important key factors. However, since the communication method is selectable for the device manufacturers, it is decisive how a telecommunications company as a keystone company can attract device manufacturers. In this paper we propose that both parties utilize program management to collaborate and promote value creation, in order to maintain autonomous and smooth relationship and to demonstrate maximum effect as an alliance. Especially it is effective to utilize platform management for LPWA alliance. We discuss about Kyocera Communication System Co., Ltd. (KCCS) which develops Sigfox alliance in Japan as an example.
