Abstract
Japanese technologies showed significant advances in the decade of 1980s. Focusing on that period, one project has been started to record and internationally publicize those technologies. The National Institute of Informatics has become a core organization with the cooperation of the five electricity related Japanese societies. The five are the Institute of Image Information and Television Engineers, the Information Processing Society of Japan, the Illuminating Engineering Institute of Japan, the Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan, and the Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers.
