Abstract
The electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) related to power electronics equipment is introduced in this paper. It is important to improve the reliability of electrical and electronic equipment in the actual electromagnetic environment. The power electronics equipment has been recently demanded to reduce the electromagnetic emission or electromagnetic interference (EMI), which stems from the mutual effect between the switching operation of power semiconductor switching devices and parasitic components in the switching circuit. This paper presents the major EMC standards, the origination mechanisms of the common mode noise, and the countermeasure methods to reduce the common mode noise.
