In recent years, there are many exercise classes at universities as a reaction to the problem of the deterioration of students’ scholastic abilities. We have a lot of exercise classes, such as mathematics and electric circuit theory, every week at Chiba Institute of Technology. After an exercise class, a teacher must grade practice sheets for every student. However, it is very time consuming for him/her to score a lot of handwritten practice sheets. Sometimes, mistakes occurred when him/her scored. To address this issue, we have developed a scoring assistant system with a PC and a document scanner. In this paper, we describe the development of the scoring assistant system and the evaluation based on questionnaire results. The system has drastically reduced the scoring load on the teachers. Furthermore, the students have benefited from the system because it enabled quicker online feedback from the teachers.
