Abstract
The objective of this research is to construct a structural health monitoring system that can determine the soundness of a structure. We have constructed a system that measures the reflection wavelength of fiber Bragg gratings (FBG) with a wavelength-swept light source that has a variable sweeping frequency. This paper describes the development of a flexible system in which the temporal resolution of measurement can be set arbitrarily down to 0.2 ms and demonstrates that the system is capable of measuring the reflection wavelengths of multiple FBG at high speed over long periods of time.
