We selected UV lasers, which have the advantage of getting a long plasma channel in air and high repetition rate of laser operation. Consequently, the 50% breakdown voltage in oxygen and dry air except in nitrogen decreases with the burst of frequency with a KrF (248nm) laser beam. This phenomenon seems to be due to the photodetachment of negative ions of oxygen (O2-andO-).
