Abstract
In this work, the authors suggest the use of numerical optimization for on-line adjustment of the exciting period in electronic damping of a stepping motor. The simplex method, which consists of some simple procedures only, is adopted as the optimization technique. In the process of adjustment, a speed sensor is used instead of a position sensor, because of its cheapness. The suggested method is applied to adjustment of the backphasing damping method, and the effectiveness is confirmed
