Abstract

This paper proposes an implementation and design method of a high-frequency and high-power inverter for wireless power transfer systems. The implementation and design of circuits operated in the megahertz range are complex because the influence of parasitic components on the device and printed circuit board increases in this range. In addition, heat dissipation over an output range of a few kilowatts is still difficult particularly in megahertz operation because of the use of surface-mounted devices in megahertz operated circuits. The design flow and implementation method to achieve megahertz operation over a range of a few kilowatts were validated using theoretical derivation and simulation. Furthermore, the relationship between the thermal structure and soft switching condition was evaluated by measuring of the parasitic capacitance. The experimental results showed that the inverter was continuously operated with a 2.7kW prototype at 6.78MHz.
