Abstract

The nonlinear states feedback control of field voltage to improve the transient stability of the synchronous motors is proposed in this paper. This control method also makes it possible to suppress rotor swings as the motor is subjected to disturbances. Since the system is represented with a nonlinear system, the stability study of this control system is judged by Lyapunov's direct method. Feedback gains of the controller are determined by using the Lyapunov function. The validity and usefulness of the control method are investigated by numerical calculations and experiments.
