This paper presents the research trends of linear drive systems. The analysis is based on the investigation database by the Japan Information Center of Science and Technology (JICST), from Jan. 1995 to Dec. 1996. As the results we confirm the increase on the study of linear synchronous motor for application to FA machines in the world.
